Here I am immersed in my Metirement. One of the things that I now have time for is cleaning out my clothes closet. Maybe I will clean out other closets someday when I am not too busy with my new blogging adventure but for now, I have started with my everyday clothes closet.
I will never admit that maybe, just maybe, I have so many clothes (because I never had time to prune and weed before!) that I have spilled over into all of the other closets in the house with a few inches of space between hangers.
Actually, I am so into cleaning and organizing now that I have so much MEtirement time, I even cleaned out three clothes drawers. Because I had too many navy and white striped shirts. WAAAAY too many. I’m better now. Purged a few and folded everything back up neatly and put it away. Can’t say I purged very many but thinking about doing so made me feel better and productive. It’s a NEW THING.
You remember from following this blog. Try to find THREE NEW THINGS. Cleaning drawers and closets. We’ll count that as one.
So in the process of cleaning closets, way in the back of the closet, I found a pair of BRAND NEW fuzzy slippers. Does a pair of slipper 30+ years old still count as BRAND NEW if you have never worn them? Let’s say yes to that. Since I worked all of the time, I never had a moment to wear fuzzy slippers around the house. So there they were. Abandoned in the closet in the dark for over 30 years. Until today.
But now that I am home (and blogging or reading about blogging all the time), I decided to give the fuzzy slippers a try. No shoes. Just fuzzy slippers. In the MIDDLE OF THE DAY!!! Oh my gosh. This is SO GREAT!! I feel free! No obligations! No meetings! Just me, the dog and my fuzzy slippers.
Now I don’t want to get lazy or too comfortable. I want to keep going to yoga and drinking water and walking a lot. I like the time I have to do all of those healthy things. But today, on this day I tried cleaning closets (it was fine for a few hours but I wouldn’t want to make a habit out of it!) and found my fuzzy slippers, I have to say that I appreciate the little things in life (like not wearing heels and a suit all of the time). And more importantly, I appreciate the fact that I can sit and try this new blogging thing and know that when I write, my mind is NOT YET as FUZZY as a pair of slippers.
